Windfall

Earlier this week I was thrilled to be given a gift. A colleague of mine had mentioned to her Grandmother about all my crafty pursuits and she, in turn, dug out two huge bags full of fabric scraps and offered them up to a loving new home (namely, mine!). I was, of course, more than happy to oblige! These bags are really pretty heavy, so there is plenty of fabric here. Here's a handful that I pulled out:

Now, isn't that just such a nice bunch of goodies to be given?! And there is tonnes more where it came from too! I haven't managed to find the time to sort through the bags properly yet but I am very much looking forward to doing so. There don't appear to be any large pieces that I could utilise for any projects on their own, but there are several FQ's and hundreds of scrap pieces like this (this is about 30 x 10/12 cm's):

My plan is to track down a nice quilt design that uses just small squares or long strips and make another patchwork quilt (I'm enjoying the Mod Sampler - so why not!). Any suggestions?

I also have to confess to a tiny purchase on ebay. You all know how much I love my animals and when I saw this I just had to have it! I think I am going to make my pussy cat (he's a Bengal called Archie) a nice cushion to sleep on! Cuteness personified!

I'm sure i'll be discussing this again soon, but I would genuinely appreciate any quilting ideas (or, indeed others) that would help me to use up this windfall of fabric!

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Wow! What a fantastic gift! I may be slightly jealous! I am so into vintage fabrics right now. I am saving mine up to make a huge dresden plate quilt one day :)
